Within the HANDwerk collection, it represents the boldest interpretation of time display, shifting away from traditional circular hour tracks toward a structured, segmented system. In the Flakes Rhodium edition, this architectural approach gains a new personality, one defined by cool luminosity and monochromatic restraint.

Where the Flakes Gold edition leans toward warmth and visual richness, the rhodium version adopts a more understated expression. The hand-engraved upper dial plate, finished in rhodium, captures light in a subtler manner. The “Flakes” technique involves carving countless tiny fragments from the dial surface by hand. Each incision contributes to a shimmering texture that feels almost crystalline. Because every dial is individually engraved, no two examples are identical, reinforcing the deeply personal nature of independent craftsmanship.

The dial’s layered construction remains one of its most compelling attributes. The lower silvered plate carries three separate hour scales, each representing four hours. The three-armed hour hand rotates across these sections, indicating the appropriate scale. It is not a display designed for haste. Instead, it encourages the wearer to pause, interpret and engage. In doing so, it restores a sense of ritual to timekeeping.

Structurally, the upper dial plate is secured by four screws positioned at the 10, 20, 40 and 50-minute marks. This detail is not merely decorative. It reinforces the architectural integrity of the design, emphasising that the dial is a constructed element rather than a flat surface. The polished bevel framing the engraved plate provides contrast, accentuating the depth created by the engraving.

Turning to the movement, the Kaliber 1 remains central to the watch’s identity. Based on the Habring² A11 architecture but finished and decorated in-house, it demonstrates how collaboration and individuality can coexist. The 28,800vph frequency ensures stable timekeeping, while the 46-hour power reserve is practical for daily wear. The finishing, however, is what truly defines it.

The frosted wheel bridge, hand-polished bevels and heat-blued screws speak to traditional techniques executed with care. The hand-engraved balance cock featuring the infinity symbol adds narrative cohesion. This symbol reappears on the minute hand counterweight and at the 60-minute marker, forming a subtle thematic thread that connects dial and movement.

On the wrist, the 39mm polished stainless steel case maintains balanced proportions. The onion-style crown nods to historical pocket watch influences, while sapphire crystals front and back invite closer inspection. Despite the complexity of the display, the watch retains elegance and wearability.

The Kudoke 3 Flakes Rhodium ultimately appeals to collectors who value nuance. It is less about bold contrast and more about texture revealed gradually. In certain lighting, the dial appears almost uniform. In others, it bursts into intricate detail. This shifting character reflects the human hand behind its creation.

Independent watchmaking thrives on individuality, and this edition captures that spirit convincingly. It respects tradition while confidently charting its own path. The Kudoke 3 Flakes Rhodium stands as a reminder that refinement does not require excess. Sometimes, restraint and craftsmanship are enough to create something genuinely compelling.
