Description
Jaeger & Benzinger Edition 7 Chrono Moiré
The Jaeger & Benzinger Edition 7 Chrono Moiré represents the latest evolution in a collection defined by traditional craftsmanship and understated complexity. At first glance, the watch appears calm and classical, yet closer inspection reveals a carefully integrated chronograph that remains faithful to the aesthetic language established by Jochen Benzinger and Kay Jaeger. This restrained approach allows the chronograph to feel like a natural extension of the design rather than a visual interruption.
The name “Moiré” refers to the distinctive hand-guillochéd dial pattern, which gently ripples outward from the centre post. Crafted entirely by hand from sterling silver and finished in black rhodium, the dial is engraved on historic rose engine lathes using techniques that date back more than a century. The result is a surface with exceptional depth and movement, where light shifts subtly across the engraved pattern rather than reflecting harshly.
Chronograph functionality is presented in a minimalist configuration, featuring central chronograph seconds and a 30-minute register positioned at 12 o’clock. This layout preserves balance and legibility while maintaining the visual purity that defines Jaeger & Benzinger watches. The chronograph pushers are discreetly integrated into the case, offering smooth operation without compromising the watch’s classical profile.
Powering the Edition 7 Chrono Moiré is a hand-finished automatic chronograph movement based on the Valjoux 7750, delivering approximately 48 hours of power reserve. Each movement is individually decorated by hand using traditional finishing techniques such as perlage and blued screws. Due to the bespoke nature of this work, no two movements are ever identical, reinforcing the individuality of each watch.
The polished/satinised, stainless steel case measures 42.6 mm in diameter and is manufactured in Pforzheim, Germany. A polished, gently sloped polished bezel creates a refined transition between crystal and lugs, while sapphire crystals on both the front and back allow uninterrupted views of the dial and the decorated movement. The case back is engraved with “UNIKATE”, a fitting declaration of the watch’s handmade nature and individuality.
As with all Jaeger & Benzinger timepieces, each Edition 7 Chrono Moiré is made to order. Owners may choose between two distinct rotor designs, including a fully guillochéd disc or an optional skeletonised rotor featuring JB initials or personalised engraving. This level of customisation places the watch firmly within the realm of bespoke German watchmaking.
