Damasko DC56 (SI Upgrade)
A brand with high self-assuredness like DAMASKO is unafraid to honour classic watchmaking. The DC56 with SI Upgrade draws on the heritage of the iconic Valjoux 7750, incorporating a vertical tri-compax layout in tribute to this enduring calibre. This movement, developed in 1973, remains a benchmark for mechanical chronographs. The 40mm DC5X series by DAMASKO integrates this mechanical tradition with modern silicon technology to create a chronograph built for lasting precision.
The DC5X series includes discreet, refined chronographs that use the Swiss Valjoux 7750 movement, featuring a 60-minute stopwatch and a 12-hour totaliser. The movement is regulated and tested by DAMASKO to meet rigorous standards.
DAMASKO’s patented ice-hardened nickel-free stainless steel case ensures excellent corrosion resistance and remarkable durability, reaching up to 64 HRC / 800 Vickers—four times harder than standard watch steel. This material is used throughout the case, bezel, crown, and pushers.
The automatic movement is a 25-jewel Swiss Valjoux 7750 Élaboré-grade with a 48-hour power reserve. It is shockproof to DIN 8308 and includes the familiar Valjoux layout of a 12-hour counter, 30-minute counter, and a central 60-second counter. The SI Upgrade enhances this already dependable movement with a silicon escape wheel for even greater reliability.
All gaskets are made from Viton, offering superior chemical resistance compared to conventional materials. The case includes a screwed case back, 10 bar (100 metre) water resistance, and ergonomically curved lugs. The flat sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating for enhanced visibility.
The matte black aviator-style dial features white minute indexes and a 12 o’clock triangle. Hour markers and the sword-shaped hands are treated with Luminova C1 Grade X1 for optimal visibility. The seconds hand is painted white, and a colour-matched, offset day/date window sits just below the 3 o’clock axis.
The crown and pushers are screw-down, triple-sealed, and use DAMASKO’s patented system. The setting stem is disengaged when the crown is secured, preventing transfer of external forces. A specialised lubricant cell ensures consistent operation over time.
An integrated anti-magnetic cage protects the movement to 80,000 A/m (100 mT), shielding it from magnetic interference—an uncommon but valuable feature in modern mechanical watches.
The watch comes with a black leather strap featuring black-white contrast stitching and a bead-blasted signed buckle.
