Description
Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Ruby
A material shaped by nature, framed by contemporary architecture and brought to life by a movement crafted and hand-finished in Biel. The Mirrored Force Resonance Ruby is defined by its dial, cut from genuine ruby and selected for depth of colour and the subtle nuances only nature can create. Each stone carries its own inclusions and tonal variations, not as flaws, but as unmistakable signatures of authenticity formed over millions of years.
The ruby introduces a vivid mineral presence that sits in striking contrast to the watch’s symmetrical, openworked resonance layout. As light moves across the dial, red tones shift from deep and velvety to bright and luminous, giving warmth and character to the exposed mechanics. Created in collaboration with a local stone artisan, the dial reflects Armin Strom’s conviction that materials should carry meaning, not merely surface appeal.
Ruby’s story is also inseparable from traditional watchmaking. Inside the movement, synthetic ruby jewels reduce friction and support long-term precision. On the dial, natural ruby becomes the focal point, placing the material’s symbolic weight alongside engineered performance. It is a rare moment where the language of gemstones speaks directly to the science within.
At the heart of the timepiece is the manual-winding manufacture Calibre ARF21, designed, developed and produced in-house. Armin Strom’s patented Resonance Clutch synchronises two independent regulating systems, enabling the twin balance wheels to oscillate in harmonic resonance. This interaction can improve chronometric stability over time and offers a hypnotic visual theatre that few modern watches can replicate.
A pusher at 2 o’clock resets both seconds counters simultaneously, allowing the resonance phenomenon to be observed and appreciated in real time. Running at 3.5 Hz with a 48-hour power reserve, the ARF21 turns a centuries-old scientific principle into an expressive, contemporary mechanical achievement.
The finishing is as intentional as the engineering. Hand-polished bevels, black-polished screws, perlage and circular graining enrich the front-facing architecture, while Geneva stripes on the reverse add depth through the sapphire case back. As with all Armin Strom timepieces, each watch is assembled twice to ensure both mechanical performance and finishing excellence, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of transparent expression and artisanal precision.
Set within a 43 mm stainless steel case and paired with a dark grey Alcantara strap with white stitching, the Ruby edition balances intensity with restraint. White printed Roman numerals add a classical counterpoint to the modern structure, completing a composition that feels both technically advanced and unmistakably rare. This is a strictly limited series of five pieces.
