Since its premiere in 1999, the Frankfurt Financial District Watches have demonstrated Sinn’s expertise in producing elegant timepieces with high technical standards. The 6033 B model, limited to 250 pieces, skilfully continues this tradition.
While the sapphire crystal symbolises flawless clarity, the transparent case back made of sapphire crystal provides a fascinating view of the finely finished movement, which is decorated with a limited edition number and the rotor engraving of ‘bull and bear’. The polished stainless steel case gives the watch a classic yet contemporary design, with a 34 mm diameter ensuring perfect wearing comfort and showcasing the watch to its best advantage. The silk-matt, galvanised blue dial, finished with a fine sunburst decoration, adds a unique touch. The hand-applied appliques convey understated elegance, while the display of two time zones on a 12-hour basis is useful in everyday life, allowing you to keep track of home time even when travelling. As expected from a Sinn timepiece, this elegant model is water-resistant, low pressure resistant, and pressure-resistant up to 10 bar, making it a statement of style and functionality.
The Frankfurt Financial District Watches
On 2 September 1999, Lothar Schmidt, owner of Sinn Spezialuhren, presented a special timepiece, the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000, at the Frankfurt Museum of Prehistory and Early History. This watch marked the beginning of a traditional line that has since become an essential part of Sinn’s collection.
A groundbreaking decision
For Lothar Schmidt and Sinn, the development of the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000 was a significant decision. Initially, it represented a major risk, as Sinn was known primarily for instrument watches for pilots and divers. However, the success of the Frankfurt financial centre watch series has proven the decision to be correct. These watches, while embodying functional strength, maintain the robustness typical of Sinn watches—pressure-resistant up to 10 bar and vacuum-proof—demonstrating that Sinn has remained true to its identity.
A watch for international financial markets
The origins of the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000 trace back to a suggestion from Dr Hartmut Schwesinger of the Frankfurt Economic Development Agency. Lothar Schmidt quickly recognised the potential of a timepiece dedicated to the global financial markets, especially in relation to the three critical time zones in Asia, Europe, and America. This watch became ideal for internationally active individuals, where synchronised communication is essential, even across vast distances.
The connection to Frankfurt am Main
Another crucial aspect of the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000 is its link to the city of Frankfurt, where Sinn has been based since 1961. The ‘Frankfurt am Main’ lettering on the dial symbolises the company’s deep connection to the city and represents the high-quality craftsmanship synonymous with ‘Made in Germany’. This commitment was further recognised when the white gold version of the Frankfurt Financial District Watch 6000 received the ‘Golden Balance’ award in 2006, followed by the platinum version in 2012.
