Description
Alexander Shorokhoff Cadamomo Black
The Alexander Shorokhoff Cadamomo Black represents the boldest expression yet of the manufacture’s avant-garde approach to high-complication watchmaking. Following the rapid sell-out of the original Cadamomo, this black-dial successor refines the concept while preserving the artistic energy that made the first edition so sought after. It is a full calendar watch that refuses convention, combining technical complexity with unmistakable visual character.
At first glance, the Cadamomo Black commands attention through its layered dial architecture and confident use of colour. Set against a deep black backdrop, the calendar indications unfold across uniquely styled subdials, each contributing to a balanced yet unconventional composition. The outer date scale is accented in yellow, blue, and green, while the central yellow date hand with its blue tip adds movement and clarity to the display.
Functionality remains central to the Cadamomo Black’s identity. The watch displays the date, day of the week, month, and moon phase, each presented in a manner that feels deliberate rather than decorative. The weekday is indicated by a discreet white sphere at 10 o’clock, the month by a white arrow at 2 o’clock, and the moon phase at 6 o’clock provides a poetic counterpoint to the calendar layout above.
The name “Cadamomo” reveals the intellectual design language behind the watch. Each syllable reflects a core function, with CA for calendar, DA for day, MO for month, and the second MO for moon. This playful yet structured naming mirrors the watch itself, where artistic freedom and technical order coexist seamlessly.
Powering the Cadamomo Black is the automatic calibre DD9000 from Dubois Depraz, a movement known for its reliability and adaptability. For this model, the calibre has been extensively reworked, with three custom-designed subdial discs developed by Alexander Shorokhov and assembled by the manufacture’s master watchmakers. Blued screws and finely finished components reinforce the movement’s refined character.
Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, the Alexander Shorokhoff Cadamomo Black stands as a tribute to the brand’s creative independence. It is a watch designed not only to measure time, but to express personality, imagination, and the enduring appeal of avant-garde horology.
