Description
Sinn EZM 19
The Sinn EZM 19 is a mission timer conceived for an unusual and highly demanding environment: professional command staff operations. Rather than simply measuring elapsed time, it has been developed to help structure and coordinate complex situations where briefings, handovers, operational cycles and other time-critical processes need to be understood immediately. Its layout turns time into visible information, reflecting Sinn’s long-standing philosophy of designing watches around a specific professional task rather than adapting conventional watches to look like instruments.
Central to the EZM 19 is its distinctive approach to orientation. Four-hour markers divide the dial according to operational cycles proven effective in command staff work, while the bidirectional captive multifunctional bezel allows the wearer to move quickly between minute-based and hour-based timing. This makes the watch particularly effective when coordinating scheduled events or monitoring several stages of an operation without cluttering the dial with unnecessary indications.
Readability has been treated as a functional system rather than simply a question of large hands and markers. The matte black dial carries hybrid ceramic luminous elements that are individually attached by hand, delivering exceptionally strong luminosity. The hour and minute hands share their colour with the prominent four-hour reference points, establishing the primary information hierarchy, while the remaining indices and seconds hand use differentiated luminous colouring. The result is a display designed to communicate priorities at a glance, including in complete darkness.
Inside is the automatic SW 300-1 mechanical movement, operating at 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour and equipped with 25 jewels, a stop-seconds function and anti-magnetic properties in accordance with DIN 8309. It provides hours, minutes, central seconds and a practical date display while maintaining the comparatively slim proportions expected from this proven movement architecture.
The 41 mm stainless-steel case is bead-blasted to minimise reflections and reinforce the purposeful character of the watch. Its captive rotating bezel receives Sinn’s Black Hard Coating applied on a TEGIMENT Technology basis, providing a highly resistant surface in one of the areas most exposed to contact and abrasion. A sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, while a screw-down crown and screw-fastened case back contribute to water resistance and pressure resistance to 20 bar.
The EZM 19 also brings together several of Sinn’s specialised technologies. Ar-Dehumidifying Technology helps prevent moisture-related fogging and contributes to long-term functional reliability, while Temperature Resistance Technology allows operation from -45°C to +80°C. Magnetic Field Protection provides resistance up to 100 mT, equivalent to 80,000 A/m, and the watch is also low-pressure resistant. Together, these features make the EZM 19 a particularly focused example of Sinn’s instrument-watch philosophy, where almost every visual and technical decision can be traced back to a defined operational requirement.
