Description
Mühle-Glashütte Marinefliegeruhr-I Edition 2026
The Mühle-Glashütte Marinefliegeruhr-I Edition 2026 marks an important milestone for the Glashütte manufacturer, celebrating three decades since the company introduced its first wristwatches in 1996. Limited to just 300 pieces, this special edition revisits one of the three watches from that inaugural collection, retaining the unmistakable character of the original while incorporating the technical developments that have defined modern Mühle-Glashütte watchmaking.
The Marinefliegeruhr-I has aged remarkably well. Its restrained blue dial, prominent luminous Arabic numerals and clearly defined minute track remain as purposeful today as they were three decades ago. Small seconds markers and distinctive dot- and triangle-shaped five-minute indices recreate the visual language of the original, while lancet-shaped hands filled with greenish-yellow Super-LumiNova reinforce its unmistakably 1990s Mühle character.
A brushed stainless steel case surrounds the dial, measuring a contemporary 40 mm in diameter and only 10 mm in height. The broad bezel retains the characteristic tachymeter scale of the original design, creating one of the watch’s most recognisable visual features. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a screw-down crown and water resistance to 10 bar provide the practical durability expected from a modern Mühle-Glashütte instrument watch.
One of the most important changes is found on the reverse. Unlike the original Marinefliegeruhr-I, the Edition 2026 features a sapphire crystal exhibition case back, providing a clear view of the automatic SW200-1 in Mühle specification. The movement incorporates the company’s shock-resistant woodpecker neck regulation, a proprietary system developed in 2003 and therefore unavailable when the original watch was produced between 1996 and 1997.
Following finishing and assembly, each movement is regulated in six positions and adjusted to a rate between 0 and +8 seconds per day. This intentionally positive regulation reflects Mühle-Glashütte’s longstanding approach to precision, drawing on chronometer principles while favouring a watch that gains slightly rather than causes its wearer to run late. The movement also provides stop-seconds, quick date correction and a power reserve of approximately 41 hours.
Completing the anniversary edition is an exclusive “Three Decades of Wristwatches” rotor fitted to every one of the 300 watches. A dark blue leather strap with light blue contrast stitching, screwed attachment bridges and a stainless steel folding clasp closely follows the character of the original. Rather than reinventing an important early design, the Marinefliegeruhr-I Edition 2026 carefully preserves what made the 1996 watch distinctive while adding three decades of Mühle-Glashütte technical development beneath the surface.
