Description
Mühle-Glashütte 29er Big Small Second Stone (textile band)
Model: M1-25-87-CB-V
The 29er was named after a dynamic regatta skiff – and it certainly does its name proud. In the new 29er Big Small Second, the colours of the dial clearly reflect the nautical roots of the 29er family, featuring either a deep blue or a stone-white dial with elements of petrol blue.
When the 29er skiffs launch onto the water, their sails cut through the air at 20 knots, racing around the buoy in a close-cut contest. On the dial of the new 29er Big Small Second, the 6 o’clock index represents the ideal course to the buoy, perfectly aligned with the start in pole position. While regatta 29ers are all about speed, Mühle watches are engineered for maximum precision by eliminating excess speed.
The first model in the 29er family was launched in 2006, inspired by a small regatta skiff used by young sailing talents in the Junior Championship Class run by the German Sailing Association. The 29er skiff is known for being quick, sporty, and dynamic – traits that serve as the perfect namesake for this watch, which is equally sporty and classic but with precision at its core.
The 42.4-millimetre-large 29er Big now features a permanent small second complication, first introduced in Edition 1994 during Mühle’s anniversary year, 2024. Watch aficionados will appreciate two new models: one with a stone-white dial reminiscent of chalky coastal cliffs with a splash of petrol blue in the flange and small second display, and another with a deep blue dial paired with an even darker blue accent.
Both models incorporate a modern twist on the traditional second display, featuring a clear-cut small second scale with slim Arabic numerals. The 60-second mark stands out in red, mirroring the corresponding second hand.
Secured by a dark grey canvas strap with Mühle’s pin buckle, the watch rests on a high-quality stainless steel case. This case features various surface finishes that create a dynamic array of light reflections, akin to sunlight dancing on the waves. The bezel combines a brushed top surface with finely polished sides, while the vertical-finished sides are framed by both the bezel and the screwed-on back.
Functionally, the case offers a pressure resistance of up to 10 bars and reliably protects the SW 261-1 Mühle version automatic movement. This movement is equipped with an efficient Mühle rotor and a shockproof woodpecker neck regulation system that allows for regulation in six different positions, ensuring accuracy between 0 and +8 seconds per day. This precision is at the heart of Mühle-Glashütte’s commitment to keeping its wearers on time.
