Description
MeisterSinger Pangaea Day Date – Ivory (PDD903)
MeisterSinger mechanical watches display the time in a traditional way and with great precision, using only one hand. This hand is longer and more tapered than a conventional hour hand and points exactly to the fine, five-minute markings on the edge of the dial, just like the first mechanical timepieces used to, right up to the 18th century. MeisterSinger watches thus literally point to that one fleeting moment in time, our true reality, thereby conveying a tranquil sense of time, as a great many enthusiastic MeisterSinger customers will testify.
First introduced in 2013, the Pangaea Day Date has had a firm place in the collection ever since. With its unusual way of showing the day and date on completely open rings, the Pangaea Day Date has already won the Red Dot, German Design, and Good Design awards. This makes it one of the most award-winning models in the history of MeisterSinger.
The Pangaea Day Date in MeisterSinger’s distinctive ivory hue has long since become a classic. The date and weekday rings are completely open, giving the dial both structure and depth. The centrally positioned single hand, elaborately blued by heat treatment, calmly rotates around the dial. A small red arrow at 12 o’clock points to the current date and the weekday.
The elegant, slender stainless steel case of the Pangaea Day Date is 40 mm in diameter, water-resistant up to 5 bar, and fitted with a domed sapphire glass over the dial. The movement can be easily viewed through the sixfold screwed glass exhibition back as it performs its high-precision task.
Inside the Pangaea Day Date ticks the Swiss automatic movement Sellita SW220, which has been specially modified for the single-hand watches from MeisterSinger. At midnight, the two rings that rotate in opposite directions align to form the next day’s date in the blink of an eye. The rotor supplies the automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve.
Despite its complex mechanical inner workings, the Pangaea Day Date has a profile of only 10.5 mm and is one of the most elegant watches in the MeisterSinger collection. Its novel way of displaying the day and the date with open rings has earned the Pangaea Day Date the Red Dot Award, the German Design Award, and the Good Design Award.
