Description

Lang & Heyne Anton Flying Tourbillon Manufaktur Edition

A stunning limited collection comprising only 5 exquisite timepieces, honouring exceptional craftsmanship and innovation, and marking the pinnacle of the Anton family.

“FLYING” TOURBILLON WITH A TWIST

A unique “flying” tourbillon sits freely in its own space, providing a fascinating view into the heart of the tourbillon mechanism. Enhanced anchor components and a modified shockproof spring, elevate the precision of the one-minute tourbillon adhering to the design language of Alfred Helwig (Glashuette watchmaker who invented the flying tourbillon).\

DIAL INNOVATION

The captivating dial combines polished, black ceramic and a matted, dark grey/anthracite, givre-finished base plate which accentuates the beauty of the dial. The use of ceramic, known for its pressure-resistance and low-specific-density properties, significantly contributes to the scratch resistance of the dial, ensuring a robust and elegant look.

ONION CROWN WITH ONYX STONE

The black onyx stone caps off the crown to accentuate the elegance of the Grand Onion design, and represents another highlight of the sophisticated style of this collection.

ENGRAVED EXCLUSIVITY

Each of the five timepieces proudly bears the engraving “Manufaktur Edition” along with “1/5”,emphasizing the exclusivity of this limited edition.

“FLYING” TOURBILLON WITH A TWIST

The term “flying” tourbillon gains new meaning as the lower section of the dial opens up, offering a unique perspective of this fascinating horological complication. As the wearer looks through the dial, past the tourbillon cage, it is possible to capture a lateral glimpse into the heart of the tourbillon itself. The subtle flange or rehaut functions as a mirror, enabling enthusiasts to admire the intricate mechanics and finesse of the tourbillon. This refined design element elevates visual allure and exploration, encapsulating innovation fused with a deep reverence for horological craftsmanship.

TOURBILLON REFINEMENTS

Lang & Heyne’s tourbillon undergoes notable enhancements, showcasing constructive refinements in its construction. This “flying” one-minute tourbillon, inspired by Alfred Helwig’s original design, boasts exceptional craftsmanship. Modifications include improving the shockproof spring and anchor components, aiming to enhance precision. The anchor, now comprising two bodies, enables finer adjustments, while the redesigned shockproof spring ensures easier mounting without the risk of damage. Complementing these improvements, a newly crafted steel bridge provides a sturdy platform for the tourbillon’s intricate and captivating performance, highlighting our dedication to innovation and precision in horological craftsmanship. The architecture of the movement now offers a more pleasing aesthetic, effectively illustrating the mechanical operation in a manual winding movement.

DIAL INNOVATION

The outstanding feature of this exclusive edition lies in its fascinating dial. Precisely crafted, a black ceramic dial elegantly adorns a dark grey givre-finished base plate. This exceptional composition radiates sophistication and mirrors Lang & Heyne’s mastery in advanced materials. The characteristics of ceramic contribute significantly to scratch resistance, ensuring a durable and intricately detailed dial, a testament to Lang & Heyne’s commitment to innovative horological artistry.

DETAIL IN THE LARGE ONION CROWN

A distinctive element of this collection is the black onyx stone with cabochon cut, serving as a highlight in the large onion crown, emphasizing the elegance and classic features of haute horological masterpieces. This artistic integration not only accentuates elegance and sophisticated style but also underscores the uniqueness and exclusivity of these exceptional timepieces.

ENGRAVED EXCLUSIVITY

Each of the five timepieces proudly bears the “Manufaktur Edition” engraving, along with “1/5,” (then in serial) emphasizing the exclusivity and highly limited nature of these Anton watches. The engraving is meticulously handcrafted on the movement, showcasing Lang & Heyne’s commitment to precision and pursuit of perfection.

This exclusive and strictly limited tourbillon is set in a solid platinum case, complemented by a genuine leather band and platinum tang(pin) buckle. Although it’s elegance is undeniable, it is the ingenuity and horological mastery that makes the Anton Manufaktur Edition so unique and collectable.

Tourbillon

For more than 200 years, the tourbillon has been a symbol of horological craftsmanship. The interpretation by the Saxon watchmaking school in the first half of the 20th century, with a “flying” carriage, meaning a single-sided construction, brought this mechanism to maturity.

The tourbillon of Lang & Heyne follows this tradition, being lightweight and elegant due to its extremely delicate cage. Its finesse and lightness reduce the additional energy required and, at the same time, minimize the sensitivity to shocks of the mechanism.

Lang & Heyne Craftsmanship

Watch and time merge into a whole, like music and time into a symphony.

From Idea to Drawing

The creation of a watch is akin to a musical composition, where tradition, innovation, and functionality merge into a creative idea. Similar to a conductor shaping a harmonious piece from various tones, we intertwine the proven with the new. Technical sketches serve as the foundation for the masterpiece where beauty and function harmonize. Our watches are like a harmonious orchestra, where each component imparts unique beauty, and the ideal harmony between form and function is sought. Drawings play a crucial role, much like notes in a score, ensuring the exact alignment of form and function. Implementation requires proven technologies and new working methods, comparable to a conductor coordinating the diversity of sounds. Documented processes form the score for quality and consistency, with perfection demanding patience and effort.

Manufacturing of Raw Parts

In watchmaking, raw parts are the foundation for creating masterpieces. The use of 3D design programs allows the design of detailed contours directly transmitted to the machines. Machine operators play a crucial role in programming, tool procurement, and setup. This modern technology enables the production of smaller batches with high precision and versatility.

Flat and frame parts are milled, while rotationally symmetrical parts with bores and millings are created on lathes and machining centers. Additionally, modern processes like laser cutting, wire erosion, and electroplating are used to precisely manufacture two-dimensional parts. This process combines the best of tradition and modernity to create precise and high-quality watch components.

Masterful Finishing

In the world of watchmaking, watches are not just timepieces but considered true works of art. An essential step in the path to completing a watch is the application of various finishing techniques. These techniques combine aesthetics and precision to give each timepiece a distinctive allure.

From the fine graining of silvering to intricate circular and sunburst patterns and precise beveling of edges and surfaces, each of these techniques contributes to the beauty, function, and durability of the watch.

Assembly of the Watches

The assembly of a watch is a challenging symphony of precision and masterful skill. Like musicians mastering their instruments, watchmakers fit each component with the utmost accuracy to create a harmonious masterpiece. Every step, from fine-tuning the winding components and movement wheels to the precise adjustment of the escapement, contributes to the perfect melody of the watch. Techniques like the rotating escape wheel allow precise control of the watch’s accuracy. Each component is carefully balanced to ensure harmonious movement—similar to musicians tuning their notes. Finally, watchmakers place the dial and position the hands as the final notes to complete the masterpiece. This symphony of precision, craftsmanship, and passion creates high-quality timepieces that resonate like a timeless melody.

Measuring and Testing

Quality at Lang & Heyne holds a significant position. Every step in the manufacturing process, from careful inspection of raw materials to the final quality control before delivery, undergoes meticulous scrutiny. This ensures that watches exhibit unparalleled quality and refinement. Precise testing, technical control, optical perfection, and the trained eye of watchmakers underscore the commitment to the highest quality and perfection. Even after completion, watches undergo intensive tests to ensure they meet the highest standards of accuracy, functionality, and water resistance. Multiple optical inspections ensure aesthetic excellence. All these aspects vividly demonstrate that quality and craftsmanship at Lang & Heyne are of central importance.
