Kudoke 3 Flakes Gold
The Kudoke 3 Flakes Gold represents a compelling evolution within Stefan Kudoke’s acclaimed HANDwerk collection. Building upon the success of the Kudoke 1 and Kudoke 2, this model introduces a highly structured and unconventional approach to time display. Inspired by antique English pocket watches yet thoroughly contemporary in execution, the Kudoke 3 reinterprets classical watchmaking codes through a distinctive triple-scale hour indication and split-level dial architecture.
At first glance, the dial immediately reveals its layered construction. The lower silvered, rhodium-plated dial plate carries three separate hour scales arranged in four-hour intervals, read by a striking three-armed hour hand. Above this sits the minute ring and engraved upper dial plate, secured by four visible screws aligned at the 10, 20, 40 and 50-minute positions. This architectural composition gives the watch remarkable depth while preserving clarity and balance.
The defining feature of the Flakes Gold edition is its hand-engraved upper dial, finished in yellow gold plating and executed using the intricate “Flakes” technique. Tiny flakes of material are delicately carved from the surface, creating a dynamic texture that shifts beautifully under changing light. Each dial is individually engraved, ensuring no two examples are identical. The polished bevel surrounding the upper plate enhances the dimensionality of the design, framing the engraved surface with refined precision.
While visually captivating, the Kudoke 3 remains grounded in serious horology. Beneath the dial lies the Kaliber 1 movement, developed in-house and based on the Habring² A11 architecture. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 46-hour power reserve, this hand-wound calibre reflects Kudoke’s commitment to traditional craftsmanship. The frosted wheel bridge, hand-polished bevels, heat-blued screws and hand-engraved balance cock featuring the infinity symbol demonstrate meticulous attention to detail throughout.
The infinity motif, an emblem of continuity and balance, appears repeatedly throughout the watch. It adorns the engraved balance cock, forms the counterweight of the minute hand and marks the 60-minute position on the chapter ring. These subtle visual connections reinforce the coherence of the design language, tying together dial and movement in a harmonious whole.
Encased in a fully polished 39mm stainless steel case with a stepped bezel and onion-style crown, the Kudoke 3 Flakes Gold balances presence with elegance. Sapphire crystals front and back allow appreciation of both the sculptural dial and finely finished movement. Paired with a leather or Alcantara strap, this edition offers collectors a distinctive expression of independent German watchmaking artistry, combining technical integrity with rare decorative craftsmanship.
