Description

Hanhart Aquasphere Freefall
Model reference: 772.270-3338

The AQUASPHERE collection heralds a new era for Hanhart at it enters the field of Dive watches.

AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue features a 42 mm steel case and has been field tested over months by world renowned freediver Fabio Tunno, the deepest German freediver in apnoea diving. The AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue even mastered a dive to a depth of 110 meters without any problems, proving that the Hanhart maxims of functionality, practicality, readability, and precision, apply above and below water.

Hanhart on the Dive

Hanhart is well known for its pilot’s watches, especially chrono- graphs. The iconic 417 ES impresses with its breathtaking his- tory and timeless design. But a brand must also look to the fu- ture and continue to develop. Hanhart has so far lacked a collection that fulfils the high demands of diving and at the same time convinces with a modern, appealing style. For this reason, Han- hart began working on the new AQUASPHERE over three years ago, which now closes this gap.

The inspiration for the new collection was the proven PRIMUS Diver, whose best features were incorporated into the develop- ment of the AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue. By combining technical precision and modern design, Hanhart has set a new benchmark for itself with this model and offers a watch that is not only powerful but also visually refined down to the finest detail.

To test all the functions and robustness in practice, Hanhart gave the prototype to the deepest German freediver in apnea diving, Fabio Tunno, to take on a trip this year. Numerous dives in Ger- many, in the Blue Hole in Egypt and at the World Championships in Corsica were successfully completed. The AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue mastered all extreme situations perfectly.

Fabio Tunno: Tested under extreme conditions by the deepest German Freediver

Fabio Tunno is an exceptional athlete who has set five German national records in freediving. Competing at the Freediving World Cup in Sharm el Sheikh, he reached an impressive depth of 110 meters, marking him as the deepest German freediver. Fabio regularly participates in world championships and is recognized as one of the best professional freedivers globally.

Fabio tested the new AQUASPHERE for Hanhart during a dive to 110 meters off the coast of Egypt in the monofin discipline. He said, “As a professional scuba and freediving athlete, I have to rely 100% on one thing—time. The AQUASPHERE has supported me perfectly as both a coach and an athlete this year. Whether diving in the sea or the depths of local lakes, I can easily track my dive times. For me, it’s a must-have for anyone passionate about diving.”

At his diving school, FABIOLOUS FREEDIVING, Fabio offers anyone the opportunity to explore the world of freediving, an activity that he believes is much more than just holding your breath. For Fabio, every dive brings a unique experience: “The element of water is more than just H2O. It calms me, energizes me, and teaches me more about myself every time I dive. Whether it’s swimming, snorkeling, or diving, water is essential for our lives.”

Exploring all depths

In apnea diving, freefall is a pivotal aspect of deep diving techniques. Once a diver reaches a certain depth—dependent on body dimensions and diving equipment—the air-filled cavities in the body compress, causing the diver to enter a weightless state. At this point, the diver begins to glide downwards effortlessly.

During this phase, movement is governed by the natural pressure of the water and gravity, allowing the diver to conserve both energy and oxygen, which is essential for reaching greater depths. The freefall is not only a mesmerizing experience of surrendering to the forces of nature, but also a critical moment where precise technique and mental focus are key to success.

Design, Functionality, and Comfort

The distinctive fluted bezel design of the PRIMUS Diver has been incorporated into the AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue, but with technical enhancements. The bezel’s radii have been rounded for a sleeker appearance, and the click mechanism has been optimized for precision. As is standard with diving watches, the bezel can only be rotated counterclockwise to prevent accidental shortening of the remaining dive time, featuring 60 precise clicks for safety.

For aesthetic balance, the watch omits a date display, ensuring perfect symmetry. The case back is embellished with a high-quality embossing of an underwater scene, featuring both matte and polished surfaces, emphasizing its connection to the maritime world. The strap lugs have also been visually inspired by the PRIMUS Diver, adding a touch of sophistication and enhancing the independence of the new diver’s watch.

The AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue offers two strap options: the Hookstrap™ textile strap or a durable stainless steel bracelet. The Hookstrap™ textile strap is lightweight and easy to adjust, providing comfort and convenience. The stainless steel bracelet is robust, easy to clean, and features a quick-change mechanism. It also includes a diver’s extension and a fine adjustment option, making it ideal for various wrist sizes and diving conditions.

Suited for every dive

The AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue boasts water resistance up to 30 ATM or 30 bar (approximately 300 meters), making it suitable for demanding dives. Its durability at great depths is enhanced by the helium valve positioned at 10 o’clock, designed to meet the needs of deep divers in hyperbaric chambers and to protect the watch during decompression.

Additional features include a crown protector for extra security around the screw-in crown and a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside, offering superior scratch resistance. The AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue is the ideal companion for deep-sea explorers.

Luminous Features and Legibility of the AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue

The AQUASPHERE FreeFall Blue ensures optimal visibility even in low-light conditions, with Super-LumiNova® C1 coating not only on the hands, appliqués, and the 12 o’clock numeral but also on the numerals, index lines, and the triangle on the ceramic bezel. This makes it easy for divers to quickly read essential information during challenging dives.

To further enhance legibility, a bar has been integrated into the hour hand, making it easily distinguishable from the minute hand. The second hand features a red-painted tip for added visibility, and the rehaut on the edge of the dial allows for more precise reading of the seconds.
