The Hanhart 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date is a striking tribute to the intersection of mechanical precision and motoring passion. Created in collaboration with Porsche Fahrer Magazin, this limited edition of just 200 pieces unites two seemingly different worlds – watchmaking and motorsport – through shared values of precision, performance, and enduring design.
What began in the Black Forest with Hanhart’s long tradition of fine mechanical timekeeping finds its contemporary counterpart in the adrenaline-fuelled world of motorsport. This timepiece bridges tradition and innovation, echoing the spirit of both pilots and drivers who rely on precise instruments that embody mechanical perfection.
The elegant mocha-brown dial, paired with crisp white numerals, provides excellent readability and refined contrast. Its smooth, polished bezel and 42 mm stainless steel case blend satin and polished surfaces, delivering sophistication and strength. A domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating ensures clarity, while the transparent case back reveals the finely decorated movement beneath. A discreet date window positioned at 6 o’clock enhances the dial’s balanced symmetry without disrupting its timeless aesthetic.
At the heart of this chronograph beats the Sellita AMT5100 M movement – a manually wound column wheel calibre with a flyback function, small seconds, 30-minute counter, hacking seconds, and a 58-hour power reserve. Meticulously regulated at the Hanhart manufactory, each movement runs within a precision tolerance of 0 to +8 seconds per day, true to the brand’s famed German punctuality.
No Hanhart chronograph would be complete without its hallmark red pusher. Crafted from HyCeram®, this signature element carries both historical and practical significance. While legend tells of a pilot’s lover who painted it red as a reminder of home, its real purpose was to prevent accidental resets during missions. Today, it stands as an emblem of safety, heritage, and distinctive design.
The 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date is available with a dark brown calfskin strap lined with Alcantara or a robust stainless-steel bracelet. The strap features a historic bund-style lower band, originally designed to prevent irritation from early brass and copper cases. Thanks to Hanhart’s modern quick-change system, wearers can easily remove the bund strap for a streamlined look or switch between strap and bracelet options within seconds.
