Because You Asked
Hanhart is always delighted to receive suggestions for new models. Over recent years, two requests appeared most frequently: equipping the iconic 417 ES with a black dial with either an AMT column-wheel flyback movement or a red HyCeram® pusher. Hanhart has combined both elements in the new 417 ES Heritage Flyback, a chronograph that unites unmistakable history with timeless design and state-of-the-art technology. This version is offered in two case sizes, 39 mm and 42 mm.
The Red Pusher – A Trademark with Function
A well-known legend tells of a pilot’s partner who painted the chronograph pusher with red nail polish so he would think of her and return safely. Whether true or not, the red pusher had a practical purpose: its signal colour helped prevent pilots from accidentally resetting stop times, a potentially critical error when navigating. Today the red pusher is crafted from HyCeram®, a hybrid of 60 % micro-fine ceramic and 3D cross-linked polymers, providing a refined, high-quality finish.
A Piece of History in Two Sizes
39 mm: Historical original size, anti-magnetic case with closed case-back
42 mm: Larger presence, sapphire crystal case-back for a view of the movement
Regardless of size, the flyback version blends classic design, modern watchmaking and the unmistakable red pusher.
Additional Security – Hanhart Impact Protection
Special shock protection complements standard factory mechanisms, safeguarding the movement against severe impacts.
Precision in Time – The Flyback Function
The historic 417 ES for German Air Force pilots already featured a flyback complication. In the new model, it is powered by the hand-wound Sellita AMT5100 M, beating at 4 Hz with at least 58 hours of power reserve.
Readability After Dark
Hands, numerals and totalisers carry Super-LumiNova® X2 C3 for clear legibility day or night.
