Description

Erwin Sattler Troja Sonata M II

The Erwin Sattler Troja Sonata M II is a monumental expression of precision clockmaking, fine furniture making, and discreet luxury storage, brought together in one extraordinary longcase clock. Created for collectors who appreciate both mechanical artistry and architectural presence, it stands as far more than a timekeeper. It is a complete horological centrepiece, built to command a room with elegance, mechanical purpose, and quiet authority.

At the heart of the Troja Sonata M II is the proven Secunda Sonata movement, here presented within a newly refined case that allows its mechanical architecture to be viewed with exceptional clarity. The U-shaped anti-reflective mineral glass door offers an open, uninterrupted view of the movement, while the visible Graham escapement, hand-polished bridgework, and one-metre Invar pendulum bring the slow rhythm of precision timekeeping into the living space. With each measured beat, the clock demonstrates the calm confidence that only a true precision pendulum clock can create.

The silver-plated dial is refined and classical, enriched by a hand-painted moon disc and a cutaway seconds dial. Hand-domed blued steel hands add depth and colour, pairing traditional craft with outstanding legibility. Every surface has been considered, from the warmth of the walnut and metal inlays to the restrained black varnish of the case, creating a sophisticated balance between technical seriousness and interior design presence.

The Sonata designation adds another layer of mechanical charm. A half-hour rack strike train with gong gently marks the passing of time, while a strike train silencer allows the owner to control when the room is filled with sound. The 30-day power reserve gives the Troja Sonata M II an appropriately grand cadence, requiring attention only once a month while maintaining the ritual and romance of a traditional weight-driven clock.

Beyond its visible horology, the Troja Sonata M II also incorporates discreet modern functionality. Sixteen precision watch winders are hidden within the sides of the case, each individually programmable via Wi-Fi and powered by high-performance motors. These winders extend sideways from the clock body and include adjustable holders for various strap lengths, with dedicated lighting that can be separately switched and dimmed by remote control.

The base of the clock contains an integrated safe, adding genuine practical security to its sculptural form. Classified to Euro/VdS Category I, it provides secure storage for valuables and can, on request, be connected to an in-house alarm system. With additional lighting in the safe, behind the clock, and within the case itself, the Troja Sonata M II brings together mechanical timekeeping, collector-grade watch storage, secure protection, and refined interior atmosphere in one remarkable creation.
