Description

Erwin Sattler Troja Lunaris M II

The Erwin Sattler Troja Lunaris M II is an extraordinary precision longcase clock created for collectors who see horology as far more than timekeeping. Combining a high-precision pendulum movement, an integrated safe, sophisticated lighting, and 16 individually programmable watch winders, it brings together the worlds of mechanical clockmaking, fine furniture, secure storage, and modern collector convenience in one remarkable piece.

Its imposing case stands over two metres tall and is finished in black varnish with the option of refined walnut and metal inlays or metal inlays alone. The newly refined case design features an anti-reflective U-shaped mineral glass door, allowing an uninterrupted view of the movement, pendulum, dial, and escapement. This architectural glass front gives the clock a commanding presence while preserving a sense of visual lightness, making the mechanical heart of the piece visible from multiple angles.

At the centre of the Troja Lunaris M II is the proven Secunda Lunaris movement, realised here as the Sattler calibre 1915. With a 30-day power reserve, precision ball bearings, jewel bearings in chatons, and an Invar pendulum with temperature and air-pressure compensation, the movement reflects Erwin Sattler’s deep expertise in regulator-style precision clockmaking. The visible Graham escapement, cutaway seconds dial, day and date indications, and hand-painted moon disc add both technical interest and visual poetry.

The silver-plated dial is refined, balanced, and classically proportioned. Its hand-painted moon phase display gives the Troja Lunaris M II a romantic astronomical dimension, while the handcrafted blue steel hands, domed by hand, reinforce the level of traditional finishing behind the piece. The approximately one-metre-long pendulum beats calmly at 60 beats per minute, lending the clock a serene rhythm and a powerful sense of mechanical presence.

Beyond its role as a precision pendulum clock, the Troja Lunaris M II is also designed as an impressive collector’s cabinet. On both sides of the case are 16 precision watch winders, each sideways extendable and individually programmable via WiFi using a smartphone or tablet. Each winder is driven by its own high-power motor and designed to hold watches in the 12 o’clock position, with holders suitable for various strap lengths.

The clock base conceals an integrated Euro / VdS Class I safe, providing secure storage for valuable watches, jewellery, documents, or other treasured items. The safe, watch winders, and clock interior are complemented by separately switchable and dimmable lighting, with indirect illumination behind the case and lighting within the base. The brightness and colour temperature can be adjusted to suit the room, giving the Troja Lunaris M II a refined architectural character after dark.

With the Troja Lunaris M II, Erwin Sattler presents a modern interpretation of the longcase clock as a complete horological statement. It is precise, secure, visually impressive, and technically sophisticated, yet still deeply rooted in the traditions of mechanical clockmaking. Inspired by historical longcase clocks while concealing a few modern secrets of its own, it is a rare creation for the collector who values craftsmanship, ingenuity, and the quiet authority of a true precision pendulum clock.
