Erwin Sattler Troja 16 M II

Erwin Sattler Troja 16 M II

The Erwin Sattler Troja 16 M II is a precision longcase clock designed for serious collectors who value mechanical clockmaking, secure storage, and elegant presentation. Powered by the Sattler calibre 1965, based on the movement of the Classica Secunda 1995, it features a 30-day power reserve, visible Graham escapement, Invar pendulum, and a refined three-part dial. Its redesigned case includes anti-reflective U-shaped mineral glass, ambient lighting, a hidden Euro / VdS Class I safe, and 16 individually programmable WiFi watch winders. The result is a rare horological object that functions as a precision clock, collector’s cabinet, and secure storage piece in one.

Description

Erwin Sattler Troja 16 M II

The Erwin Sattler Troja 16 M II is a remarkable precision longcase clock created for collectors who value the quiet authority of traditional mechanical timekeeping, refined furniture making, and secure horological storage. Imposing in scale yet carefully balanced in design, it brings together a high-precision pendulum movement, 16 integrated watch winders, a hidden safe, and sophisticated lighting within a beautifully refined case.

As part of an extensive model refinement, the Troja 16 M II has been enhanced both visually and technically. Its redesigned case is finished in black varnish, with the option of fine walnut and metal inlays or metal inlays alone. These refined details add depth, warmth, and architectural definition to the case, giving the clock a commanding yet elegant presence in a serious collector’s room, private residence, or dedicated watch space.

The newly developed U-shaped mineral glass door is anti-reflective, allowing a clear and uninterrupted view of the interior. This generous glass front reveals the movement, dial, visible escapement, and long pendulum with minimal distortion, allowing the mechanical structure of the clock to become part of the room itself. The magnetic door closure preserves the clean design while reinforcing the sense of precision and order that runs throughout the piece.

At the heart of the Troja 16 M II is the proven movement of the Classica Secunda 1995, realised here as the Sattler calibre 1965. With a 30-day power reserve, weight-driven architecture, precision bearings, screwed-in chatons, agate anchor pallets, and an Invar pendulum with temperature and air-pressure compensation, it reflects Erwin Sattler’s deep understanding of high-grade regulator-style clockmaking. The approximately one-metre-long pendulum beats with a calm one-second rhythm, giving the clock its confident and meditative presence.

The dial is refined and technically expressive, with a three-part construction, recessed scales, and a cutaway seconds display that reveals the Graham escapement. Depending on the dial execution, the hands are either blue steel or polished steel, each domed by hand to enhance depth, legibility, and traditional finishing. This restrained dial design gives the Troja 16 M II a purer precision-clock character when compared with more decorative astronomical models.

Beyond its role as a precision pendulum clock, the Troja 16 M II has been designed for the serious watch collector. On both sides of the case are 16 precision watch winders, sideways extendable and individually programmable via WiFi using a smartphone or tablet. Each winder has its own high-power motor, holds the watch in the 12 o’clock position, and is suitable for various strap lengths, making the clock a highly practical companion for an automatic watch collection.

The base conceals an integrated Euro / VdS Class I safe, allowing valuable watches, jewellery, documents, or personal treasures to be securely stored within the clock itself. Ambient lighting inside and behind the case, along with lighting for the safe and winders, can be switched and dimmed separately via remote control. With its blend of traditional precision, collector-focused function, hidden security, and architectural presence, the Erwin Sattler Troja 16 M II is an exceptional longcase clock for those who appreciate horology at scale.
