The blood moon is a fascinating natural spectacle that results from the scattering of sunlight through the Earth’s atmosphere. While it is often associated with mystical powers, its vibrant red colour is purely a product of nature. In the Opus PM 70 III, this celestial event is honoured through refined craftsmanship and design.
The two-part, black anodised dial features red 12 o’clock numerals, symbolising the blood moon. A hand-painted moon phase disc is displayed through the aperture at 6 o’clock, while a gentle hourly chime known as a passing strike adds acoustic charm. Each clock features a limited edition imprint on the dial, indicating the specific number out of the 99-piece series.
Inside, the Sattler Calibre 1410 movement combines traditional Graham escapement and high-quality materials. Ruby jewel bearings enhance both function and beauty, with red tones echoing the blood moon’s hue. The movement is powered by a 1,000 g weight on a rope pulley, and requires winding just once a week via a concealed crank compartment at the base.
