Description
Erwin Sattler Lunaris II – White Dial
The Erwin Sattler Lunaris II – White Dial is the new-generation take on Sattler’s moon-inspired table clock, bringing refined proportions and sharper detailing to an already distinctive concept. It balances architectural modernity with traditional German clockmaking, where long-term precision and mechanical integrity remain the foundation.
The moon is central to the Lunaris identity, and the white dial version puts that theme on full display with a brighter, cleaner aesthetic. The two-piece dial construction creates depth without relying on heavy decoration, with Roman numerals milled through the top layer to reveal the layer beneath. This subtle three-dimensional effect improves clarity while giving the dial a quiet sense of structure and intention.
Frameless glass remains one of the Lunaris II’s defining design traits, creating a floating, gallery-like presentation that suits a desk, shelf, or sideboard. In this new generation, the top and base have been redesigned in finely brushed stainless steel, accented by a precisely milled and polished decorative groove. Against the white dial, these metal details feel even more purposeful, adding contrast and a modern edge without becoming flashy.
The hands have also been refined, featuring a skeletonised shaft with a filled tip, improving legibility while keeping the dial visually light. This is particularly well suited to the white dial layout, where the watchmaker’s goal is not loudness, but crisp readability and calm balance. The hand-painted moon phase remains the emotional centrepiece, adding a human touch that complements the dial’s precise milling work.
Mechanically, the Lunaris II is as engaging as it is composed. The passing strike sounds a clear, delicate chime on the bell once every full hour, adding an acoustic marker of time that feels measured and refined rather than dramatic. It is a feature that reinforces the Lunaris II as a true piece of traditional clockmaking, not simply a decorative object.
Daily operation is designed to be straightforward and satisfying. Winding, time setting, moon phase adjustment, and regulation of the 8-day movement are all arranged on the rear, keeping the dial clean and uninterrupted. In the white dial version, that front-facing calm is part of the appeal: a bright, modern presentation supported by proven mechanics and thoughtful, functional design.
