Ultramarine (Latin for ‘over the sea’) is an iconic colour that has inspired artists and designers worldwide many times over due to its history, rarity and beauty. The ultramarine blue dial with its turned-out totalisers provides a powerful as well as a fascinating base for the elegant appearance of the Chronograph III S. It looks sophisticated and harmonises particularly stylishly with the completely polished stainless steel case.
The ‘S’ in the name of the Chronograph III S refers to the exquisite column wheel chronograph movement used in this watch. This sophisticated mechanism is one of the highest quality and most precise chronograph constructions, a detail that delights watch enthusiasts and collectors all over the world. This is discreetly indicated by the lettering ‘Schaltrad’ (engl. column wheel) at the 6 o’clock position on the dial.
Characteristic of a chronograph are the side push-buttons above and below the crown, which enable the stop times to be reliably measured to the second for up to 12 hours. These and the time are displayed by very elegant, refined steel hands.
The Chronograph III S is equipped with a sapphire crystal back that allows a view of the complex mechanics inside the watch. The precise interaction of the parts when the chronograph is activated is not only a technical fascination, it’s also an aesthetic pleasure, as is the sight of the hand-engraved, guilloché and skeletonised rotor. This rotor can also be personalised with any initials, making the Chronograph III S a unique one-off.
