TRES – harmonising accurate time with contemporary design

As the inventor of the modern single-handed watch, BOTTA Design understands the importance of achieving balance between functionality and form. The German, boutique watchmaking company has been designing award-winning watches since its foundation 1986. The TRES collection is available with mechanic or quartz movements, in light and dark dial variants set into either steel or black PVD cases. The Quartz collection also comes in 2 case sizes 44mm and 40mm, so there is bound to be a model to suit all wrist sizes and budgets.

The 44mm TRES Plus Quartz collection features elegant tone-in-tone dial designs in either light or dark shades. Like their mechanical brothers, the quartz watches have three centred, slim hands and a fine minute scale around the outer dial to allow for accurate legibility.

This is a perfect everyday watch, presented in a brushed, 44mm stainless steel case with hidden lugs.

The cleverly concealed lugs are tucked into the underside of the case so the case sits effortlessly on the wrist in a minimalistic fashion – nothing distracts from the dial. However, in-line with BOTTA’s utilitarian philosophy, even this design element has a purpose. By carefully crafting the case with bevelled flanks to incorporate the lugs, several things are achieved:

• wrist movement is enhanced,
• air flow and circulation around the band/underside of the case is optimised for increased wearer comfort and
• space is optimised, allowing even fine wrists to look good in a slightly larger case (finally more options)

The double-domed sapphire crystal case top with its narrow stainless steel top ring/bezel complements the elegant lines of the watch. The anti-reflective coating on both sides of the crystal provides significantly improved transparency and reduces the reflections on the watch glass. The quartz collection has a closed case back and runs on the reliable, Swiss-made, RONDA 704 movement.

The classic 44mm pearl white model is crisp and modern with a hint of the austere – German Bauhaus for the modernist with the benefit of non-stop battery power.
