Armin Strom Tribute 2 Aurum

Description

Armin Strom Tribute² Aurum

The Armin Strom Tribute² Aurum stands as a refined statement of independent watchmaking, where mechanical architecture and artisanal finishing converge in a deeply considered design. Limited to just ten pieces worldwide, this exceptional timepiece represents the next chapter of the Tribute collection, expanding on the foundations laid by the original Tribute 1 with greater openness, depth, and decorative ambition.

At the heart of the Tribute² Aurum lies its defining feature: a gold coated mainplate finished entirely by hand using the rare tremblage engraving technique. This painstaking process creates an irregular, shimmering surface that reacts dynamically to light, giving the movement a living, almost organic character. Crafted from brass and coated in gold, the mainplate provides a richly textured canvas that elevates the entire visual composition of the watch.

The movement architecture is more openworked and skeletonised than its predecessor, allowing a deeper view into the mechanical layers beneath. An off-centre grey fumé dial floats above the movement, creating a striking contrast between smoky tones and warm gold hues. This layered construction reinforces the sense of depth and invites closer inspection, rewarding the wearer with new details from every angle.

Powering the Tribute² Aurum is the in-house, hand-wound AMW21 calibre, developed and manufactured by Armin Strom. Delivering an impressive 100-hour power reserve, the movement employs an innovative motor barrel construction in which the arbor transmits energy directly to the gear train. This configuration enhances efficiency while preserving the visual balance of the movement’s open architecture. The calibre operates at 3.5 Hz and is regulated by a variable inertia balance wheel with a flat hairspring.

Hand-finishing reaches its pinnacle throughout the movement. The front showcases a skeletonised motor barrel with meticulously polished and bevelled spokes, alongside the brand’s signature finger bridge rendered in black-polished steel. Turning the watch over reveals a three-quarter bridge adorned with Geneva stripes and circular graining, highlighted by an exceptional 60-degree hand-polished bevel. A sculptural, three-dimensional escapement wheel bridge with a polished sink completes the composition.

Each Tribute² Aurum is assembled twice, reflecting Armin Strom’s unwavering commitment to mechanical precision and aesthetic integrity. Encased in stainless steel and paired with a refined taupe Epsom leather strap, this timepiece balances understated elegance with extraordinary craftsmanship, making it a compelling addition for collectors who value rarity, artistry, and independent horology.
