The Alexander Shorokhoff Home 2 is a wonderfully expressive limited edition timepiece inspired by the work of Austrian visual artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Known for rejecting straight lines, uniformity and conventional design rules, Hundertwasser created buildings and artworks that felt alive, organic and deeply human. In the Home 2, Alexander Shorokhoff channels that same spirit into a watch that is colourful, unconventional and unmistakably artistic.
The dial is the centrepiece of the design. Set against a shimmering green background, individually crafted and hand-applied “house” appliqués bring the composition to life with bright colour, organic form and playful architectural character. The green tone reflects Hundertwasser’s passion for environmental protection, while the textured dial surface is arranged to suggest both earth and sky. A wave-like guilloche pattern in the upper section evokes sun rays, while the lower section features a tile-like guilloche pattern reminiscent of grass and fields.
The colourful houses are finished with glossy cold enamel and mother-of-pearl inlays, giving each element depth, light and individuality. A small blue star appliqué at 10 o’clock and a lightning appliqué at 1 o’clock add further atmosphere, recalling a vivid night sky above the rooftops. This is a dial that rewards close attention, filled with detail, texture and symbolism.
Legibility remains a key part of the design, with white lacquered hour and minute hands outlined in black to stand clearly against the richly decorated dial. The rose-gold coloured seconds hand complements the hour appliqués and Alexander Shorokhoff’s signature oversized “60” at 12 o’clock, a defining feature of the brand’s creative design language.
The rectangular stainless steel case measures 41 x 41 mm and has a slim height of just 9 mm, making it highly wearable despite its bold visual presence. Green enamel detailing in the side recesses of the case harmonises beautifully with the dial and strap options. The case back is another highlight, featuring four small round coloured glass windows in red, yellow and blue, offering glimpses into the movement like windows in a house.
Inside is the Swiss automatic ETA 2892 calibre, enhanced with a hand-engraved and refined oscillating weight, blued screws, 21 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 47 hours. Limited to only 10 pieces worldwide, the Alexander Shorokhoff Home 2 is a rare, joyful and rebellious work of wearable art, created for collectors who appreciate independent watchmaking with imagination, personality and meaning.
