At first glance, the dial of the Alexander Shorokhoff Happy Second appears to be a classic black. Yet, upon closer inspection, it reveals an intricate ribbed texture that creates a fascinating interplay of geometric forms. This subtle, almost hidden detail brings the dial to life and invites the wearer to engage emotionally with the watch each time they glance at their wrist.
Adding to this vibrant character, the chronograph’s hour display at 6 o’clock is presented in bold avant-garde colours. The joyful spirit of the watch is further enhanced when the start/stop pusher at 2 o’clock is engaged, sending the multi-coloured central seconds hand into a lively dance across the dial.
The redesigned stainless steel case measures a well-proportioned 42 mm in diameter with a height of just 12.40 mm, an impressively slim profile for a chronograph housing the calibre ETA 2894. The rounded contours of the case and pushers contribute to a modern yet elegant aesthetic.
An innovative cylindrical sapphire crystal crowns the design, offering a subtle visual contrast to the watch’s flat dial architecture. Combined with a sapphire case back secured with seven screws, this thoughtful construction results in a refined look and a comfortable fit on any wrist.
Inside, the renowned ETA 2894 chronograph movement provides reliable performance with its compact 6.10 mm height. Functions include a stop feature with central seconds, decentralised minute display at 9 o’clock, decentralised hour display at 6 o’clock, and a date window. The rotor is beautifully hand-engraved and refined, as is signature of all Alexander Shorokhoff timepieces.
The watch is paired with a supple calf leather strap featuring an artistic stainless steel detail and colour-edged finishing that complements the overall design seamlessly. With only 50 pieces produced worldwide, the Happy Second is a limited edition celebration of joy and fine mechanical craftsmanship.
